In mid Februrary 2013 I started my two months tenure as a researcher in residence in the faculty of theology at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, the Netherlands. My research area is Chan/Zen Practice in China and the West. A few days arter my arrival, my hosting professor of Buddhism Andre van der Braak inivted me to sit in his class of Mahayana Buddhism for which I was expected to teach  a couple of lectures later on. Bio: Please provide full details
I am a retired teacher of History and Careers Education.I am pleased to have worked in comprehensive schools throughout my career. I have been a Buddhist for nearly thirty years, and a Pureland Buddhist since 2009. I am a lay member of the Amida Order. My interests are walking and Renaissance literature. I am married with two grown-up sons.
What can you offer to ITZI, & what is your interest in being a member?
Enthusiasm for the Dharma ! I am very much enjoying working with others to produce learning materials for the Vow 22 Amida chaplaincy training course, for which I am also a Learning Mentor.

What is the approach/philosophy of your centre?
Pureland Buddhism
Are you available to lead courses in Buddhist Psychology?
No
Are you able/willing to travel outside your country to teach?
Not able to,sorry.
What other subjects, if any, can you teach?
I am very happy to continue and develop my work with Vow 22 - I am particularly and continually trying to improve my knowledge/'expertise' in Buddhist History.
Do you have other abilities to assist in the life/administration of ITZI?
None that I can particularly identify in myself at present.
In what languages are you fluent?
Only English, I'm afraid.
In what languages do you have a basic understanding?
German - but it is basic.

I have published a very modest amount of poetry and articles in small magazines over the years.
