In mid Februrary 2013 I started my two months tenure as a researcher in residence in the faculty of theology at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, the Netherlands. I started practicing zen in 1995. I received a Sotoshu monk ordination from Ryotan Tokuda Roshi in 2000 and have followed his teaching for 15 years. I was chairman of the Buddhist Union of Belgium from 2009 until 2012. I have been in charge a zen dojo in Mons (Belgium) since 1996.
What can you offer to ITZI, & what is your interest in being a member?
I was lucky enough to meet Dharmavidya at a meeting of European buddhist teachers at Karma Ling (France) in September 2013 and was very interested by his vision on buddhism. I think Buddhism has only a chance in Europe if we can look beyond the boundaries of our own traditions. Creative people are not so numerous, and we need creativity to establish Buddhism in the West. I'm very interested in your practice of devotion.
